Water mist

Fire suppression using fine water droplets (typically <1000 µm) at high or low pressure.

Definition

Water mist combines cooling and oxygen displacement using ~10% of the water volume of traditional sprinklers. Common on cruise ships (SOLAS), machinery spaces, hotels with restricted water supply, and historic buildings. Standards: EN 14972, NFPA 750, FM 5560.
