Deluge system

Open-head sprinkler system that discharges water from every nozzle on activation.

Definition

Deluge systems use open (no thermal element) nozzles and a deluge valve triggered by independent detection. Used where fire spread is extremely rapid: flammable-liquid handling, transformer bunds, EV charging zones in car parks, aircraft hangars. EN 12845 §11.3 covers deluge; NFPA 16 covers foam-water deluge.
