Alarm valve

Check valve that holds back water and triggers the audible/electrical alarm on flow.

Definition

Wet alarm valves (with water motor gong), dry alarm valves (with accelerator/exhauster), and deluge valves are the three primary types. Each requires a labelled control valve, drain, test connection and pressure gauge upstream and downstream per EN 12845 §15 and NFPA 13 §16.
