Early Suppression Fast Response (ESFR)

High K-factor sprinkler designed to suppress (not just control) high-piled storage fires by delivering a large quantity of water early in the fire cycle.

Definition

ESFR sprinklers use K-factors of K200 (K14.0) up to K360 (K25.2) and are listed for storage occupancies up to 13.7 m (45 ft) without in-rack heads. They require a higher operating pressure (typically 3.5 bar / 50 psi or more at the head) and a strictly limited obstruction profile. ESFR is the default modern choice for high-bay logistics and warehouse storage under both NFPA 13 (Chapter 17) and EN 12845.
