Control Mode Specific Application (CMSA)

High K-factor control-mode sprinklers designed for specific storage applications.

Definition

CMSA sprinklers (formerly Large Drop) use K161–K242 to penetrate the fire plume and pre-wet adjacent commodities. They are the alternative to ESFR when ceiling height, obstruction, or in-rack constraints disqualify ESFR. Common in NFPA 13 storage designs up to 9.1 m (30 ft).
